Bell Ringing at St. Matthews
After a gap of over 8 years when the bells were only rung occasionally, though we now have a committed group of ringers. They range in ability from learners to over 60 years experience and in age from 14 to 85! We have been fortunate that the feedback from the neighbours has been mostly very positive and they are happy to tolerate and even enjoy the sound of the bells! We have however, made an effort to place some temporary sound control in order to balance the sound around the outside of the church. In due course a better and more permanent sound control will be installed but this will take time and money. After a long period of being unused, the bells were in need of some maintenance and repairs. This is in the process of being carried out both on a DIY and professional basis. |
